Did you know that half of today's unproductive souls in society cannot read, another third of those have a limited reading ability? Did you know that if you never leave your living room you can travel to the most exciting places in the world. You can be a time-traveler, or a spaceman, or you can go back or forward in history. Reading enhances the imagination so much that you would not even begin to realize what you can do. Take the time to give your children the gift of reading. Over the years we have found that a child is happier, healthier and so very much more rounded when they are read to and can learn to read. Nothing will draw a childs attention more than having themselves the star of a story. You too will enjoy the happiness and delight in a child's eyes when you are reading your child or grandchild or even a less fortunate child a book about themselves. Literacy is very close to my heart on very many levels, I was an adult literacy tutor for several years and my niche was working with people with handicaps such as hearing difficulties. The delight when they could read and write their names replaced the embarrassment and shame from trying to hide the fact that they could not read from friends and loved ones.
